The beach is 5 km away, Groede, Nieuwvliet, or Cadzand. Our favourite route: by bike via Groede Podium to the Groede beach. Beach bars all along the coast.

Groede village
A Zeeland artists' village. The Slijkstraatje, an ice-cream shop, restaurants on the square, local shops, a clog maker.

Things to do
Bike rides through the wider area, cycling along the sea dike, kitesurfing (Kitesurf school Zeeland), horseback riding on the beach, fishing in the creeks (with a permit), walking. Groede Podium for the little ones: animal park and playground.

Breskens (lighthouse, harbour, ferry to Vlissingen, fresh fish, seal boat trip), Oostburg (Wednesday market, Bianca Bonte cookware shop, bakery, bookshop), Nieuwvliet (bike rental, riding school, the Pierewiet play farm), Cadzand-bad (water sports), Sluis (shopping, the Belfry). Knokke and 't Zwin at 15 km, Bruges 30 km, Ghent 45 km.
Our tips
A few things we do every time.
- 01An apéro board at Beachhouse 25, right before sunset.
- 02Sunday brunch at Puur.
- 03Bianca Bonte: the cook-and-gift shop you get lost in.
- 04Late afternoon almost always clears up.
- 05Fresh strawberries in season, from the farmer towards Groede.
- 06Honesty stalls from local farmers along the road, our favourite is just past the village towards the beach.
- 07Sunset from our terrace, or the little seat by the reeds. Don't miss it.
